Hi all. I think names are facsinating. The reasons why people choose them and their history. I always wanted to name a little girl after my husband's grandmother and my grandmother. Anna Louise but with 2 boys that never happened.
Coyoger, I was re-reading this post and just wondering what the name is you chose. You may have already said in another post but do not remember . |

Hi All, I'm a new member and fall in the TTC group. Even though we're not expecting yet, I'm always thinking about names. My husband came up with a very interesting one. Our last name is spelled "SniHur", but is pronounced "SniDur". His suggestion for a girl name -- Apple. So it would be Apple Snihur!! It's actually kinda cute, but my fear would be the teasing by other kids. What do you think? I'd prefer a more Catholic/traditional name, but this one really seems to be growing on me. |

| hmmm 2 middle names? don't think I would do it, I think it sets a kid up for some sort of teasing in school...plus you have to think about all the paperwork and forms they will fill out throughout they're lifetime, there is only space for 1 middle name, so dunno, don't think I would go that way, I think my kid would punish me someway when he/she was old enough. I have a friend that if his father would of had his way his name would be:
Douglas Royce Lancaster Dehavalin Churchill Sample He was to be named after a plane.
His name is Douglas Royce Lancaster Sample. He doesn't seem to mind the multiple names. It sure was interesting for him during the draft when they had him listed as 5 differant people, AFTER he had already volunteered. And from where I am here in south Texas having several names is not unheard of and is even fairly common. I think if you raise your child to be strong, secure and proud of his name, it really doesn't matter what others think. |

Hmm, it's been a long time sinse anyone wrote in here but it can't hurt to shoot my names out there and see if anyone has anything to say!! Well, sinse I don't know the sex of the baby (not that I didn't TRY to find out), I have had to think of names for both. With my son we knew when I was 5 months pregnant that he was a boy so he had a name already when he was born!! (Gabriel Vallen Michael) However, this baby's name will have to be more in the moment when we first see him/her. Anyways, I do have a strong feeling that it's a girl and have only really been thinking about girls names so I'm pretty stuck on Ariel Karisma Mikelle, it looks sort of funny when it's writen but the name holds meaning for me and I think it sounds fine! Either that are Ariel Karisma Ivory. Hmmm. For a boy my bf/x (not sure what to make of that right now!), suggested the name Tristan which I 100% agree on and the only names I have come up with for boys were Isaac and Jonah. I think Tristan Isaac sounds pretty good, I've always loved both those names. Anyone have any input? Even if you don't like them, it's all up to me in the end isn't it!! Well, thought I'de put them out there! |

| I really like the name Karisma for the middle name-it's very unique and cute. Tristan for me is a little more a girl name...just my options though. |

How are you pronouncing Mikelle? Like Michael? or with the i having the ee sound like many Latin based languages? Just curious .
I like the sound of Tristan Isaac better than Tristan Jonah. I think the hard I following the soft -tan is more appealing than less intense jah sound of Jonah.
BTW, not that it means anything but with my second I was sure it was a girl but me and daddy could only agree 100% on a boy's name. We kept going round and round on the girl's name. I guess the hands of fate were at work because my gut was WRONG and we had a boy who is now Ethan Philipp. |

bcenots - Hmmm, . . . I really like the name Taylor but I'm not sure how I like Bailey. Forever your daughter would be forced to represent an alcoholic beverage! Mind you, I do like how Bailey sounds. As for Bailey Taylor, it's kind of hard to say because in both names that dominant aa sound comes out right at the beginning. I'm not sure how to explain it in the correct terms, but, if that's the name you like then you should use it. There's more to chosing a name for your child than cuteness or how it looks on paper and sounds rolling off your tongue, if it means something to you and you think your child will appreciate it, (cause he/she's the one who ultimately has to live with it!), then do what you feel best. I do think it sounds nice. If you wanna get technical, chosing a name could take forever!
Rene- It's hard to explain how the name is pronounced, Michal is how it's actually spelt, it's a hebrew name by tradition but i don't say it with the harsh ch sound that hebrew tongues speak with. The i however does not have the ee sound, i suppose you could say it's a soft 'i'? I KNOW, sounds JUST like Michelle, pronounced the american way, only with a K instead of ch. Mikelle. There. Hmph. Hard work!
nicolepatrisso- I really like Tristyn for a girl too, but the meaning is no good. It means noisy and full of sorrows!! I think children whine enough on their own without adding a name with that exact meaning to the picture! REALLY unfortunate though cause I would have loved to have a girl and call her Trityn.
Well my due date is getting closer and closer. May 5th, that's only a month and four days, my first son was 2 weeks early so you never know, I'm on my way out to buy a few more things for the new little one right after supper. Excited and scared feel funny when they're mixed together in your tummy! Thanks for all the input guys, i think if it is a boy he will be Tristan Isaac Charles. Still a little lost on the girls names I mentioned before. Gabriel and Ariel sound so much a like and I can't decide if I want to give them names so similar sounding. I'll be saying them so much!! Thanks again and best wishes to everyone! |
