What are some things I need to do to help with loss of weight during breastfeeding? I want to try to begin an excercise program. I was a member of Curves here in town, but I am not sure I want to rejoin. I am thinking of maybe an aerobics class but do not want my milk to be affected. I have read and heard that the lactic acid can increase making my baby refuse the milk. Of course I don't want this to happen. How can a shed a few pounds and get healthier and still breastfeed?
Thanks! Sunny

I would start with some brisk walking or aerobics. One thing to remember is to drink plenty of water after exercising. And start slow, maybe 1-2 days a week then increase to 3 or more. I think it is best to simply increase your activity or exercising (calorie use) and not try to "diet" or decrease your calorie input. However, that is not to give a license to eat anything and everything. You should definitely cut out unnecessary calories such as sweets, fried food, and junk food. If you get hungry replace them with healthy proteins (chicken, fish, eggs), veggies, fruits, and complex carbs (whole grains).
With my first I started exercising while breastfeeding and ended up being thinner at his first birthday then I was before I conceived. Good Luck. |
